Angus Stevens, Managing Director at StartVR
1. What gets you up in the morning?
I genuinely love my job. So aside from our dog Stevie Rose wanting a walk and my family having a moderate desire to go to school which needs to coaxed along, knowing my day is going to be a combination of working with superb individuals; mixed with a healthy dose of creativity, deals, and all things VR - it’s easier now than any other time in my life - to get the hell out of bed.
2. What are you most excited about in the digital and tech space?
Unsurprisingly, I’m most excited about VR. Its already become its own art form and as a new media platform its an expansive and brilliant time to be shaping how it all plays out.
3. If you were a piece of technology, what would you be?
I remember this centurion couple, when recently asked what was the greatest technology they'd experienced in their lifetime, said the washing machine, 'cause it changed the life of his mother and her mother like nothing else in the world ever had before or since.
4. What's your favourite quote/proverb/saying/mantra?
Strategy is choosing what not to do.
5. Music: what's at the top of your playlist?
At work in the headphones the current high rotations are Lourde & Lana Del Ray’s latest albums. The goto fall backs are Angus & Julia Stone, Bach, Mozart and good old Radiohead.
6. Look into your crystal ball - what do you see?
Its not looking all sunshine and lollypops but I’m innately optimistic, so I like the Czech expression “If tomorrow the world ends then today I plant an apple tree."
